Empathy Has No Script

Sadly, many of us work in environments that don’t operate on empathy. Corporate culture has become one that is non-stop, and compassionate leadership is often looked at as an unnecessary soft skill.
My favourite definition of empathy is from the wonderful Brené Brown who says “Empathy has no script. There is no right way or wrong way to do it. It's simply listening, holding space, withholding judgment, emotionally connecting, and communicating that incredibly healing message of 'you're not alone.”
For me, it’s really simple: if employees know their leaders care about them, they will reciprocate with loyalty and dedication. And that’s good for any business, right?
Eventually, if you can lead with empathy and encourage that in others, you will begin to make a change and improve work environments.
Is empathy encouraged and talked about in your workplace?
